NEW PRODUCT DEVELOPMENT (NPD) DESIGN FOR WEETABIX
Challenge
The team at Weetabix-owned Alpen came to us with an exciting challenge. They were looking to explore several stretches to their classic Alpen bars range and needed an NPD design team they could trust to create a series of NPD design concepts for consumer preference testing. It was a forgone conclusion that the challenge here was to produce research visuals that were refined enough to garner valuable feedback without leaving the research panel feeling they were looking at the final concepts.
Approach
We began with a deep dive into shopper trends and consumer insight, which Weetabix supplied to us. This clearly identified an appetite for a value-added proposition centred around key drivers such as protein fortification. We then explored various adaptive design visuals conceived to communicate the concept clearly whilst keeping the creative fluid and adaptable post feedback.
Result
The final research stimuli retains the established brand assets for Alpen and introduces a darker colour palette and protein call-outs to communicate the key nutritional characteristics and suggested positioning amongst familiar supplement brands established in the gym/workout/health space.
